Commentary | In the center: Quiteria and Basilio, who pretends to have stabbed himself; both well-lighted.
On the right, Camacho ready to draw his sword. From the left, don Quixote advances to stop him, while Sancho stays protecting his food. Also the priest and several women. Theatrical composition. Drawing and engraving are acceptable as a whole, but deficient in some details. |
Notes | 1 - Plate XIII.
2 - Surrounded by a strong line enclosing underneath a space for inscription, which however has been left blank. 3 - Copy after Coypel's illustration (Paris: Surugue, c. 1724). 4 - Probably, the copy has been done after the plate for Paris/La Haye: Chez Bleuet, 1774, which has a similar frame and underneath space but with caption. 5 - The plate is not signed. |
